Marcap is a boutique owner and operator of offshore vessels based in the UAE and Saudi Arabia serving the entire MEA region and international markets.

We are a trusted partner for the largest energy projects in the region. Our long history and high standards have earned us official approvals from major National Oil Companies, including ADNOC, ARAMCO, and KJO, along with international EPC contractors. These industry leaders rely on us because we fully understand the strict safety and operational requirements of the Arabian Gulf and the wider MEA region, including full compliance with the ISM code.


While we operate our own fleet, we also provide a streamlined path for international ship owners and investors to enter this market. We act as their local representative, handling all technical management, legal paperwork, and staffing in-house. This allows our partners to work in the Middle East immediately without needing to establish their own entities here. Whether we are providing a single boat or managing a full project, we ensure the same level of excellence across our entire operations.

Marcap UAE
Established in 1996, Marcap UAE is a trusted partner for major infrastructure and marine civil projects. We have supported landmark developments such as Khalifa Port and Palm Jumeirah. Working with leaders like ADNOC, NPCC, and NMDC, we provide specialized vessels for dredging, reef construction, and cargo, among other services. From Abu Dhabi to Fujairah, we deliver excellence across every offshore mission to ensure project success.

Marcap Saudi
Since 2010, Marcap Saudi has served as an approved contractor for Saudi Aramco and KJO. Operating from Dammam, Ras Tanura, and Khafji, we provide services including pipeline stabilization and long-term charters for DP, AHTS, and crew boats. We also designed and built specialized pilot boats for decade-long missions. Our Tanajib facilities ensure we remain a reliable partner, offering a wide range of offshore solutions across the Kingdom.

Marcap Story

In 1980, Abu Dhabi was a city of roundabouts, boats, and new beginnings. At that time, only two bridges existed in the Emirate, leaving Islands like Saadiyat, Hudayriyat, and Reem completely unlinked by roads. Because of this, some businesses relied on providing boat transport to ensure their people could cross the water to their workplaces. Experiencing this reality firsthand by taking a boat every day, Mr. Samer Qiblawi, our future President and CEO, embraced the unique energy of the developing city and took a leap of faith to start his journey as an entrepreneur.

By 1983, Al Bawardi Marine Service Company was established as a small but ambitious department. Despite the humble start, a clear vision and the determination of a tiny team laid the groundwork for decades of growth.

A pivotal shift occurred in 1996. The company gained its independence as Al Bawardi Marine Services Company (ABMS) following a major restructuring. Equipped with its own team, fleet, and headquarters, the company set its own course. Counting from this moment of independence, we are now entering our 30th year of service excellence.

In 2003, we officially became Marine Capabilities (Marcap) LLC, coinciding with a fleet revamp acquiring larger, modern vessels. The name connects directly to our heritage: "Marcap" (Markab) translates to "boat" in Arabic. This brand now represents an approved contractor serving all oil operating companies in Abu Dhabi and major clients across the Gulf. 

By 2010, Marcap expanded into Saudi Arabia, establishing Saudi Marcap and becoming a direct contractor for Saudi Aramco. Today, with over 15 years of operations in the Kingdom, we have doubled our fleet to serve clients like Khafji Joint Operations (KJO).

Our history is defined by resilience. We weathered the 2008 global economic crisis and the 2020 pandemic while keeping every promise to our clients. When others struggled, Marcap remained steady. 

The true engine of Marcap is its people. As our CEO describes it, Marcap is "a well-oiled machine" powered by a family of around 450 team members. In 2019, we launched the "Happiness Program" because we know that happy employees create happy clients.

A Timeline of Growth
1983
The Beginning Established in Abu Dhabi as a marine department within Al Bawardi Enterprises, responding to the early boom in the region's marine industry. 
1996
Independence Branched out as an independent entity (ABMS) following a major restructuring, equipped with our own team, fleet, and headquarters. 
2003
The Rebirth as Marcap Renamed Marine Capabilities (Marcap), revamped its fleet with larger, modern vessels and solidified its status as an approved contractor for all oil operating companies in the UAE. 
2010
Expansion to KSA Established Saudi Marcap as an independent subsidiary and accepted as a marine contractor by Saudi Aramco; secured long-term charters for pipeline stabilization and AHTS support, cementing its presence in the Kingdom. 
Today
Market Leader Approaching 30 years of independent service, Marcap stands as a premier owner/operator with a diversified fleet and a family of ~450 employees, serving clients across the MEA and beyond .

Start of the journey in 1983 with 2 locations – headquarters at the Corniche area in Abu Dhabi and the technical team workshop in Mussafah ready for immediate action in case of quick repair required.

MOZAMBIQUE
Since entering this beautiful region in 2024, we have managed various vessels for diverse clients. Our team ensures project success through regular site visits and close operational control, discovering new opportunities for growth.
NETHERLANDS
The Netherlands is a significant partner for our brokerage and vessel sales activities. We value the technical expertise and high standards found in the Dutch maritime sector, and we frequently collaborate with local partners to enhance the quality and reach of our fleet.
UK
Our relationship with the Kingdom began with mobilizing our first vessel from the east of the country. Today, we maintain strong brokerage and sales connections across the entire UK, bridging the gap between European maritime assets and the Middle Eastern offshore market.
GREECE
Greece is a vital hub for our vessel sales, purchases, and mobilization activities. With several representatives in the country, we maintain a constant dialogue with the Greek maritime community, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality standards for every ship that joins our fleet.
CYPRUS
Through our representative in Cyprus, we have developed strong partnerships and engaged in various vessel sales and purchase activities. Our collaboration with local companies continues to add value to our operations, strengthening Marcap’s presence in the Mediterranean maritime market.
OMAN
From Duqm and Salalah to Muscat and Masirah Island, we have managed a variety of vessel operations across Oman. We value the trust our Omani partners place in us and remain committed to supporting the Sultanate’s growing maritime and energy sectors.
ERITREA
During the early stages of offshore development in Eritrea, Marcap was there to conduct essential environmental surveys. We are pleased to have contributed our technical expertise to the country’s maritime growth and continue to value the professional connections we established there.
MAURITIUS
We maintain close connections with Mauritius, where we purchased and mobilized one of our vessels. This beautiful island nation remains a key point on our map, representing our commitment to expanding our fleet and building strong maritime relationships across the Indian Ocean.
IRAQ
Our presence in Iraq included a multi-year project involving a vessel we specifically mobilized from the UK. This successful operation demonstrated our ability to manage complex logistics across borders and deliver reliable offshore support to our clients in the region.
QATAR
Since our early days, we have been active in Qatar through significant SPM projects. Working with our partner EMDAD, we established a representative office to provide dedicated support. We remain proud of our long-standing history and the successful operations we have managed in Qatari waters.
CHILE
Distance is no obstacle for our team. We have successfully supported the delivery of landing crafts to and from Chile, connecting South American assets with our clients as far away as the Mozambique coast.
INDONESIA
We have successfully managed and mobilized several vessels in Indonesian waters. Along with being a source of dedicated seafarers, Indonesia is a land of opportunity where we apply our management expertise to ensure the highest standards of safety and efficiency at sea.
INDIA
India is a key region where Marcap has managed numerous vessel operations. Beyond providing a wealth of maritime talent, the country remains a central part of our operational map where we continue to deliver reliable offshore solutions and build lasting professional partnerships.
LEBANON
As the homeland of our founder, Lebanon holds a special place in our history. We maintain long-lasting media partnerships and aim to support the region and its people whenever the situation allows us to help.
CHINA
China is a leading partner in shipbuilding that delivers on its promises. We have brought several technologically advanced vessels into our fleet from China and look forward to further innovation together in the future.
EGYPT
This fertile area is a vital source of maritime expertise for Marcap. Many of our highly educated captains and chief engineers come from Egypt, bringing vast experience and dedication to our offshore teams.
MALAYSIA
We have mobilized several vessels from this vast land of opportunities. Our fruitful partnerships in Malaysia keep us ready to welcome new ships and explore further maritime possibilities across the Southeast Asian region.
TURKEY
Turkey is a premier location for shipbuilding. Our first pilot boat project for Saudi Aramco was designed and built here, and these vessels continue to perform perfectly for our clients in the Kingdom today.
JAPAN
We rely on Japanese technology and high-quality engines for our fleet. This continuous collaboration includes receiving delegations in the UAE and ensuring our vessels operate with the most reliable and efficient spare parts available.
SINGAPORE
As a global maritime hub, Singapore is a land of partnership for us. International ship owners trust Marcap to supervise their vessels and manage their successful entry into the Middle Eastern and African markets.
BAHRAIN
